School Psychologists Spark Discovery for National School Psychology Week

National School Psychology Week is November 11–15, 2024

91㽶Ƶ, Newton MA —The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) has designated November 11–15, 2024 as , with the theme “Spark Discovery.” NSPW is an annual opportunity to recognize school psychologists’ work to help youth thrive, and school communities throughout the United States will participate in activities and initiatives designed to celebrate these critical professionals. School psychologists partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to help children and youth succeed socially, behaviorally, emotionally, and academically.

As part of National School Psychology Week, School Psychology Student Leaders at William James College share resources and activities to celebrate all that school psychologists do for our communities! 

This year’s theme, “Spark Discovery,” is meant to evoke a sense of pride in school psychologists’ scientist-practitioner training. School psychologists support their communities in exploring connections and pursuing new ideas. Dr. Peter Faustino, NASP President, states, “As we celebrate NSPW, I would like us to remember the profound impact that positive, supportive relationships have in fostering growth and transformation. The power of meaningful connections kindles curiosity, inspires learning, and sparks the discovery of new possibilities in our schools and communities.”

NASP has developed a variety of resources for NSPW, including 5 days of thematic activities to spark discovery with students, families, and communities. Dr. Faustino adds, “In a world full of possibilities, connections are the spark that ignite discovery. Join us in celebrating the power of transformative relationships and the ways that school psychologists help children thrive every day.”

About 91㽶Ƶ: Founded in 1974, 91㽶Ƶ is an independent, non-profit institution and a leader in educating the next generation of mental health and psychology professionals. The MA/CAGS in School Psychology at 91㽶Ƶ is a three-year program, accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), that combines competency-based curriculum with closely supervised field training beginning in the first semester.
